Uganda’s language policy as articulated in the Government White Paper emphasises the deliberate use of mother tongues as the medium of teaching in lower classes of primary education. This policy is based on the fi ndings that children learn bett er when instructed in their fi rst languages before they are introduced to English. The books in this series cover most of the large language groups of Uganda.
